I was nervous because we were having out of town guests coming for dinner last weekend and I had just arrived home from a long day at work. I wanted to impress our guests with a nice dinner and a clean home. I had only an hour to prepare...Lily must have picked up on my anxiety and kept herself very busy. She brought all of her favorite toys into the kitchen (to keep me company and to be there if I needed a cooking hand) and re-arranged/sorted them repeatedly for the entire hour. It was very, very sweet.
With all of the carefully calculated sorting, I think she may soon be ready to learn how to "combine like terms," which is a concept that my eigth graders are struggling with!
