Brian was giving a talk at the Seismological Society of America annual meeting and we decided to make it a family trip! Brian's presentation went well and he wasn't too nervous talking slightly out of his element (he typically studies landslides, not earthquakes, but his talk was about earthquake-induced landslides - so it worked). Lara ate a couple of clam chowder bread bowls. They were delicious-not too potato-y (but they still don't compete with New England clam chowdah according to Brian). Lily touched star fish at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. They were wet and weird. And everyone was mesmerized by the jellyfish - wonderful times, all around.
Unfortunately, our camera battery died before we had a chance to take any good photos. But this one shows Lily's reaction to a piece of coral - hmmm.....
