Have we mentioned...

how much fun it is to dress little Lily?

Sleeping Lily

Perhaps now you can understand why we don't sleep well when Lily sleeps. Make sure your volume is turned on!

Should we be worried about her tongue drying out?

Boob, Bottle or Pacifier...it Don't Matter!

We were told that it is a good idea to introduce a bottle to newborns sometime in the second month (especially if the mother is planning on returning to work). Auntie Angie helped Lara out with the expressing. Just yesterday, Brian gave Lily her first bottle. Our little "Baracuda Baby" took to it immediately!

More Friends!

Lily has met many new friends. Gretchen and Eliza (here from Boston) came over with a flank steak for Brian and Lara and a Bob Marley "One Love"onesie for Lily. Lily was excited to also cuddle with Lara's colleague, Susan. During that time, Lara cuddled with the homemade manchego and greens bocadillo that Susan brought her. Auntie Maegan introduced her mom, Karen, to the Lilybug. The ladies bonded over Rocky Road ice cream. Lily had on a perma-grin while in Karen's arms. Jen and her happy and thriving kiddo, Taylor, came over bearing a fancy meal. Taylor was over 10 pounds when she was born. Jen was curious what it felt like to hold a smaller-sized newborn.

More Family!

Lily has had a big week. Brian's dad ("Pepere") has flown in from New Hampshire to cuddle with Lily and to sing to. Along with him, he of course brought a stuffed animal moose to remind her of her New England paternal roots. Brian's brother's family drove up from San Diego to tickle Lily's three chins. Mike, Angie, Erin, Zane and Joli have offered wonderful words of wisdom and support. They have also passed on to us adorable baby clothes, baby carriers, and everything you could possibly need to keep Lily well fed and round. We've decided that Zane will be the offical "shusher" as he has a very calming touch with Lily and Erin will be the offical very cool "advice giver" as she has had years of experience and is very much "in the know." Joli will of course be her playmate.

Yes...she cries.

Several of you have asked...this perfect little bundle does indeed cry. She also poops (she actually has daily "blow outs"), she burps, she farts (actually like a old man) and she snorts. She snorts a lot. We think she is part Lara, part Brian and part piglet.

Lily's First Bath!

Not that she needed it of course... perfect babies never get dirty! But the time had come to submerge our little one in some suds, so we (Mom, Dad, Memere, and Auntie Hilary) all teamed up to scrub those little toes, and discover all sorts of new hiding places, like the folds of her neck skin... who knew that you could hide a whole set of wrenches, a watermelon and a kitchen sink in there? She did great and we think that she really likes water! Thanks so much to her Great Auntie Janet and Great Uncle Nick for the baby bather... it kept her body in the water and her head in the air... what more can you ask for?! Here are a couple of photos to document the occasion... yeah Lily!

This must be a Brimhall thing...

They're huge!!!

Lily's First Word?

Ok, "first word" may be a stretch, especially for a three-week old...but we're convinced the squak sounded a lot like a combination of "Mama," "Daddy," and "Failure Mechanics of Weakly Lithified Coastal Bluffs!"

Nine Faces in Thirteen Seconds...

Lily and I tried to take a nap togther...instead, we ended up making faces at each other for over an hour.

Little Lily attends her first wedding!

Our good friends, Jereme and Ariel, got married at the Brazilian room this past weekend. Brian and I were honored to be a part of the wedding. Lily was super stoked to be a part of the celebration too and dressed up in her wedding haute couture (also known as a moby on her Auntie Hilary). The night was beautiful. We are so happy for our friends.

Who knew that Lily was related to Popeye???

How funny that we've been calling her "Sweet Pea" all this time! Hmmmm, family Halloween costume idea...

Family Time...

Many family members have been bonding with Lily these past few days. This week, she met "Auntie Janet" (Grandpa George's sister) and "Memere" (Brian's mom).

Lily is one lucky baby!

Four Faces in Five Seconds

There is never a dull moment when cuddling with Little Lily....Here she was just waking up from a nap. Though she is just two weeks old, we think she has a ton of personality already!

All is well in Lily Land...

You may notice a theme here... but as we all know, sleep is bliss... enjoy the new photos!

Silly Girl!

We are finding that we cannot keep up with all of Lily's wonderful expressions. Within a few seconds, she can look sleepy, then excited, then frustrated, then alarmed, then worried, then constipated, then curious, then ecstatic, then satisfied and finally sleepy again. We are excited for the time when her facial expressions truely match her emotional states- it is probably a little too early for us to be reading into her huge grins.

The Moby Wrap!

We bundled little Lily up in our new Moby Wrap and ventured all the way (you know, across the street) to visit with our friends, Anna, Gordan and their little one, Julian. Anna and Gordan have been incredibly helpful- feeding us, offering us sweet words of encouragement, and sharing stories/experiences.

Though we seem to need five hands to put our little bundle in the sling, it is incredibly soothing to her. She falls asleep instantly.

Visitors and Life at Home

We have had all sorts of visitors come by to say hello (and to offer a very welcome hand... thanks Aunty Hilary and Nanny!). We've posted a few photos, including visits from our friends Dan and Maegan and Jereme and Ariel, as well as Lara's friend and fellow teacher's baby Audry. There have been many more, and lots of welcome support and meals too, so thanks to all, and we'll keep trying to post more and more photos.... enjoy!

Life at home has been a slow adjustment, but Lily is learning to let us know of her needs and wants, and we are in turn learning to keep up with her. Life pretty much consists of sleeping and feeding, but in those few moments when she is awake, she makes all sorts of fun expressions, the most classic either being a confused look of "Where am I?" or a peaceful look of "You guys just keep feeding me and letting me sleep and I'll be just fine." I'm not sure how it is that she keeps sleeping for 20 hours a day, whereas we are just trying to squeak by on 4, but as of the past few days, we've learned to sleep while she is sleeping, and that has made all the difference!
